What the price depends on
A drone itself only flies for a small part of the time. Most of the work happens before and after. These are the things that make the difference.
The drone
With a camera drone, such as a DJI, we make aerial photos, video and inspections. FPV is different work: we tune the drones ourselves, and flying indoors between people and machines is precision work that takes more preparation. That is why FPV costs more than work with a camera drone. An FPV flight through your building is easiest to price with the price scale, as a price per project.
The preparation
For every flight we look at the airspace, the rules at that location and the weather. If your location is near an airport or a nature reserve, permission is needed, and we apply for it. For an indoor flight we walk the route together beforehand. The more complex the location, the more preparation.
The flight itself
One location in one flight is the simplest. More locations, several moments in a day or a flight across several floors take more time. That is why we price an FPV flight through a building by the floor area of the route: a 400 m² showroom is a different story from a 2,500 m² factory hall.
The editing
Raw footage is not yet a film. The editing, the music, the colour grading and the number of versions make up a large part of the price. With us you always get a vertical version (9:16) for Reels, TikTok and Shorts as well.
What you want to use it for
A few photos for your website is different from a company film for your recruitment campaign. Tell us where the footage will be used, and we will make a proposal that fits, and no more than that.
Cheap or professional?
A drone can be bought for a few hundred euros these days, and there are plenty of people who will come and fly for little money. When hiring, look out for these points:
- A certificate. A pilot should hold a certificate of competency under the European rules, and the operator must be registered (in the Netherlands with the RDW).
- Insurance. Ask whether damage caused by the drone is insured, especially if it flies indoors or near people.
- Knowing what is allowed. A good pilot will honestly tell you if something is not possible at your location, and find out what is.
- Experience with flying indoors. FPV through a building is precision work. Ask for previous work, such as our work.
- What you get back. Raw footage or an edited film? Landscape and vertical? A clear quote tells you in advance.
How to keep costs down
- Combine what you need in one day: aerial photos of the building and an FPV flight through it go well together.
- Know what you want to show. A short list of the places and moments that must be in it saves time on location.
- Pick a quiet moment, with no crowd or traffic on the route. Then it takes fewer attempts.
- Have the vertical version made straight away instead of separately later.
